    A photo of you taken on a phone is enough. Your browser scales it down before it is sent, so the original file stays on your device.

  2. Pick a style

    5 backdrops to choose from, from neutral studio grey to a softly blurred office. The style sets the background, the clothing and the light, not your face.

    Before and after sit side by side. If it works for you, take it as your profile photo, drop it into the cover sheet or download it.

What you need for it

Not much. An image where your face is easy to make out, and an account. The rest happens in the browser and on the server.

  1. A photo where you are easy to make out

    Facing the camera, evenly lit, nothing covering your face. The clearer the source, the less has to be invented, and invented features are exactly what gives an application photo away later.

  2. JPEG, PNG or WebP

    The server takes nothing else. Your browser scales the image down first and sends only that smaller version; the original file never leaves your device.

  3. A Jobvin account

    Generation only runs while you are signed in: the quota belongs to your account, and so should the result. The first photo is free.

What comes out, and where it goes

What you end up with is a head-and-shoulders portrait next to your source image. Three routes lead on from there.

  1. Before and after, side by side

    The result sits right next to your source image. That view is the real test: if something looks off to you in the comparison, it will look off to a stranger too.

  2. Take it as your profile photo

    The image becomes your account profile photo. The cover sheet falls back to that photo as long as there is none in your Master Profile.

  3. Drop it straight into the cover sheet

    One click opens the cover sheet editor with the new image. If you came in from a specific application, the editor carries that link along.

  4. Download it

    As an image file on your device. From there you can use it anywhere, including outside Jobvin.

  5. And in the resume?

    The photo in your resume belongs to your Master Profile and is uploaded there, not on the photo page. The route is the same: download the image, set it as the photo in your Master Profile. After that every template that has a photo slot will show it.

    One template deliberately does not. The ATS set comes without a photo and without graphics, because it is built for anonymous processes and for systems that read a resume by machine.

How an AI photo gives itself away

This is the part vendors like to leave out. An application photo out of a machine only helps you while nobody notices that it is one. If it shows, it does more damage than no photo at all would.

  1. The one rule

    The photo still has to look like you. Not like a smoothed, rejuvenated, differently proportioned version of you, but like the person who later sits in the interview. Anything that breaks that rule works against you, even when the image is the prettier one.

  2. The test before you send it

    Put your source image next to the result and show both to somebody who knows you. If they stumble over anything, do not use the picture. Better a second attempt with a better source.

What to look at before you send it
  • The skin is too smooth
  • Eyes and glasses do not add up
  • Ears, hairline, collar
  • The background is not a room
  • The image does not fit the job

And if you use no photo at all?

That is a good answer too. In Germany, an employer has not been allowed to ask for a photo since the General Equal Treatment Act, and among larger companies with structured processes applying without one is getting more common. What a photo session costs

The price comparison belongs on this page. But done honestly, including what it leaves out.

  1. At a photographer: 50 to 150 euros

    That is the usual range for an application headshot session, depending on the studio, the city and the scope. On top of it comes the appointment itself: getting there, an hour on site, then picking from the shots. The range is an observation of the market, not a Jobvin price.

  2. At Jobvin: the first photo is free

    Without Pro exactly one generation is free, once, not per month. With Pro it is up to 30 photos a month, and the counter resets when the month turns. Above that sits a cap of ten generations per hour, which exists only to stop abuse.

  3. What the comparison leaves out

Can people tell that an AI was involved?

That mostly depends on your source image. The instruction given to the model explicitly asks it to keep your facial features, age, skin tone, hairstyle and glasses, and to stay with a head-and-shoulders crop. An instruction, however, is not a promise about the result. That is why the source and the result sit side by side: you decide after looking at it. If anything feels off, do not use the picture.

What does it cost?

The first generation is free, once and for good, not monthly. After that the application photo belongs to Pro; there you get up to 30 photos a month, capped at ten per hour on top. A headshot session at a studio costs 50 to 150 euros by comparison, depending on the provider and the scope.

Which image should I upload?

A recent photo facing the camera in good light, with nothing covering your face. The server accepts JPEG, PNG and WebP; your browser scales the file down first, so the original stays with you. Bad sources are sunglasses, heavy filters and blurred shots, because whatever is missing in the source has to be invented.

What happens to my image?

For the generation your uploaded image goes to Google Gemini, our processor under contract. Your content is not used to train AI models. The result is only stored once you take it as your profile photo or drop it into the cover sheet, and then into a storage area that only your own account is allowed to read. Do I even need an application photo?

No. In Germany an employer has not been allowed to ask for a photo since the General Equal Treatment Act, and an application without one may not formally be a reason for rejection. In conservative industries and smaller firms a photo is still half expected, so it stays your call. One of the Jobvin templates, the ATS set, is built without a photo from the ground up.
